Humanist Society of Redding

Welcome

The Humanist Society of Redding emphasizes ethical and responsible behavior. Our group is committed to advocating a naturalistic approach to our daily lives. We strive through our programs and projects to make the world a better place, with justice and equal rights for all.

As humanists, we believe all supernatural beliefs to be irrelevant and instead prefer to be guided by reason, informed personal experience and compassion for all life forms on the planet. Read more about us...

Upcoming Meetings

On Sunday, February 5, at 1:00 p.m., we will be celebrating Darwin Day with a potluck lunch and a film, "Charles Darwin and the Tree of Life."  The film will be followed by a lecture and discussion. Bring finger food or something that's easy to eat while sitting in a chair and watching a film! We'll also have a birthday cake.

Check out our Calendar of Events to see more of what's coming up, and "Like" us on Facebook to get automatic updates. You can also bookmark our Facebook page.

Book Discussion Group

The Humanist Book Discussion Group's next meeting is Saturday, January 21 at 5:00 p.m. at Angelo's Pizza for a no-host dinner and discussion of J.R. McNeill's book, Something New Under The Sun: An Environmental History of the Twentieth Century.

The Book Discussion Group meets about once a month and new members are always welcome to join. If you want to participate, sign up by sending us an email. We'll keep you posted on any changes in date or venue and remind you of the approaching meeting.  BOOK DISCUSSION NOTICES ARE SENT ONLY TO THOSE WHO REQUEST TO BE PUT ON THE BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP LIST.
