About Us

The Humanist Society of Redding strives to help people bring out the best in themselves so that all can obtain fulfillment in life.

We believe the guide to truth is free and rational inquiry with a scientific approach, and that the problems of the world can be solved by humans using logic and reason. It is our moral imperative to teach that spirituality is a personal quality of being aware, connected, and committed to a life of well being for others as well as ourselves.

We also accept the scientific evidence that all life emerged and developed to its present state through the process of unguided evolution and recognize nature as the ultimate reality. We affirm our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives and work for the common good of humanity, rather than hoping for an unproven reward after death or an existence beyond the one we are presently experiencing. Therefore, we cherish this life and feel its greatest fulfillment is derived from adhering to the highest of human ideals.

We concern ourselves with working for world peace, justice, for the environment, and for the good of all living creatures. We speak out against bigotry, cruelty, and intolerance.

We offer educational Humanist programs to members, children, and the public at large.

We affirm humans are part of the same evolutionary process as all living organisms.

We strive to deal with all issues in a positive manner.
